Love the monthly letters!

I got the monthly explorer letters for my niece and she absolutely loves them! Each letter is so detailed and the artwork is fantastic. She gets so excited when it arrives in the mail. We even got the world map poster to track the journeys. This is such a fun and educational subscription, I'm so glad I found it!

Annual subscription value

I was looking for something educational for my daughter and found Letters From Afar. I opted for the annual letter subscription because it seemed like the best deal compared to paying monthly. The first letter arrived promptly. It felt like a good investment for the learning content.

Consistent quality, returning customer

This is my third year with Letters From Afar, this time I went for the homeschool geography supplements along with our annual subscription. The quality of the monthly letters has been consistently high, just like my previous orders. They always arrive around the same time each month, which is great for planning. My kids really enjoy the stories and the souvenir patches from the explorer kit we bought earlier are still a hit. It's a reliable service that keeps learning engaging.

Interesting concept, minor issue

I purchased the explorer kit and a digital subscription for my nephew. The kit itself was well-packaged and the items inside were neat, especially the illustrated maps. The digital subscription provided good supplemental content for the letters. However, I had a small issue accessing one of the past letters archive sections initially, but customer service helped me out after a day. Overall, it's a creative way to teach geography, but the website could be a bit smoother.

Is there usually a coupon for the first month? Or like, a new subscriber discount floating around?

R Rachel 1 month ago
Yeah, they almost always have a first month deal. Check their site, usually pops up or is easy to find with a quick search.

I got $5 off my first month when I signed up last fall. Definitely look for one before you check out.

Has anyone tried both Letters From Afar and Little Passports? Trying to decide which one to go with for my 8 year old.

G Gwen T. 2 weeks ago
We did Little Passports for a bit, it was okay. Letters From Afar feels more 'story' driven and the art is amazing. My kiddo really gets into the explorer character more with LFA.

Little Passports is a bit more 'activity' focused, I found. LFA is just a beautiful, well-written letter. Depends what your kid prefers.

can you stack coupons on here? i have a referral code and maybe found a discount for annual, wondering if i can use both.

M Megan 1 month ago
Nah, pretty sure you can only use one code at a time. I tried with a holiday deal and a different one, only let me apply one.

Most places don't let you combine discounts, unfortunately. LFA is probably the same.

what's the deal with canceling? is it a pain or pretty straightforward if my kiddo isn't into it?

T Troy Beaumont 4 weeks ago
Super easy. I cancelled mine last year just through my account page, no need to call or anything. Took like 2 clicks.

G Gwen Vargas 4 weeks ago
Yeah it's not a trap. You can cancel online. I did it after a few months with no issues.

Thinking of getting this for my nephew. How long does it usually take for the first letter to show up in like, California?

B Beth 1 month ago
Mine took about 10 days to get to me in San Diego after I ordered. They ship around the first week of the month I think, so if you just missed a shipment it might be longer.

M Mark E. 1 month ago
yeah it really depends on when you order. If you order mid-month, you'll have to wait till the next month's letters go out. So could be a bit.
